About me

Formerly 'Vendetta' The wheels were put in motion late 2010 marked by a transition from playing covers to writing all original tunes. The final formation of the band is closer than ever with the addition of a drummer at the beginning of the year. The band is rehearsing regularly with enough songs ready to fill a support slot and more in the development phase. The focus is on refining and tightening up each tune to a performance-ready level. Kenny Govus - Vocals/Guitars Philip Neumann - Guitars Boyd Vanderplas - Drums Adam Green - Bass Guitar

Name: KennyAge: 24Respective Instrument: Vocals, Guitar
Music Background:
I started playing guitar at the age of 14, because my Dad plays on the occasion and stores the guitar in the lounge room. So one day I said “ok Dad show me a chord”. I learnt a chord a night and soon enough I was strumming them all together. I started learning some songs to sing, however would only sing at home due to lack of confidence and being the shy person that I am. After gaining some confidence in my voice I got together with my mate Fil, from school, and we started learning cover songs in the hope of making some money out of it. We played regular acoustic gigs at our local pub before finding a drummer and bass player, which enabled us to play a corporate function, and some weddings. The passion for playing other peoples music soon died, so we decided to focus more on writing our own music, and formed Vendetta.
Musical Influences and Inspirations:
Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Cog, Muse, Radiohead, RHCP, Tommy Emmanuel and Eric Clapton.
Kenny’s Passions Outside of Music:
Building furniture, working with cars and computers.
What Kenny Loves about Music:
How diverse it is, how there are so many ways to express yourself. The way you can capture people’s attention with your emotion, whatever it might be.
Where Kenny wants to see Lost Tempest in 5 years:
In 5 years I would love to have the band at a stage where we have a substantial fan-base, 2-3 albums, a distribution deal/record deal, and have a few international gigs under our belt.

Music Background:
A multi Instrumentalist/song writer and producer of over 20 years, music is well and truly in my blood. I started out as a drummer and began performing at the age of 7 in school and youth orchestra’s before finding my passion in the more progressive and innovative artists of the area.As a drummer growing up in the UK, my musical schooling was vast, I was lucky enough to be brought up listening to ground breaking and progressive bands of the era like Genesis, Simple Minds, and the Orchestrations of Queen, Pink Floydd and Mike Oldfield.
During my teens I began to seek more progressive and heavier bands to listen too to help develop my craft, the influences of Metallica, Queensryche, Iron maiden and later heavier and faster bands like Slayer and Pantera featured heavily in early original bands but my enthusiasm for late 60’s and early 70’s funk would add some flair (and not just in the trouser) to my style and to bands that I would later become a part of.
Always the drummer up until this point, I knew that although I enjoyed my place in the bands, there was more I wanted to discover musically.Over the next few years and while sharing tour buses through the UK and European band circuits, I began teaching myself guitar and making loose attempts at solo recordings… this would set the grounding for what would become a life long obsession in production that would later on my arrival in Australia carve a new path away from the kit.
Musical Influences and Inspirations:
Far too many to list.
Adam’s Passions Outside of Music:
Outside of the band, music remains my passion, I run a production house (Groove Chapel) that develops the musical architecture for short film as well as advertising and new media formats and a full range of audio support.
What Adam Loves about Music:
I love that music is an expression of the composer, an interpretation of the listener and is delivered through the passion from the artist.
Where Adam wants to see Lost Tempest in 5 years:
In such a changing industry, I hope to see the band and our music continue to develop and deliver the passion we all have for our craft through our live and recorded work.

    Name: PhilAge: 24Respective Instrument: Guitar
Music Background:
I started playing guitar at the age of 13 and took music classes throughout high school. I studied music at QUT for a year but then dropped out after I found music at Uni wan’t really for me. I also play bass in a jazz big band and 2 other bands;  Say Do Now (http://www.facebook.com/saydonow) and Dark State Silence (http://www.facebook.com/darkstatesilence).
Musical Influences and Inspirations:
In the early days of learning to play I was heavily influenced by Metallica and tried to play (often failing) a lot of Kirk Hammett’s solos. Today some of my biggest influences (and favorite Aussie bands) are Karnivool, Cog and Dead Letter Circus.
 Phil’s Passions Outside of Music:
I enjoy Science and Engineering. That is all.
 What Phil Loves about Music:
[Cliche’ Warning] I love that you can tell a story and raise all kinds of emotion in people without words. You can expose yourself and purge your thoughts through songwriting in a way you never could in daily life.

Where Phil wants to see Lost Tempest in 5 years:
I hope to have a complete album or two released, and to have toured extensively around Australia.

 Music Background:
I wanted to start playing drums around the age of 10yrs old, unfortunately I had a strict father and obviously playing the loudest instrument was not going to happen in his house hold. I picked up my first set of sticks at age 21, after realising I had bought a kit with no idea how to play and little co-ordination I decided to take lessons. My first teacher was the drummer (Dan) from Lynchmada. being taught by a 15yr old at 21 was intimidating, but a massive push. I had the passion after one lesson and was more determined to become something then ever before. My first band was a covers group made up by good mates, Three Thumbs Up. From there I have played in various bands from punk, metal, rock, indie, jazz and funk and so forth over the years. I have been lucky enough to be trained by drummers from bands such as Cog, Dead Letter Circus, The Butterfly Effect, Karnivool, Frenzal Rhomb, Pete Murray and Lynchmada.Musical Influences and Inspirations:
The early days that kicked me off were: Grinspoon, One Dollar Short, Sum 41, Rage against the Machine, Pennywise, Queens of the Stoneage, Audioslave, Metallica, Pantera, Red hot chilli Peppers, System of a Down.As time rolled on: Cog, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Brand New, Deftones, Incubus, The Butterfly Effect, Mudvayne, Rise Against.
Boyd’s Passions Outside of Music:Everyone knows i’m addicted to fishing, have been since 3yrs old. I’d rather snowboard over wake board but genuinly love both. What Boyd Loves about Music:
All of it! Love to listen, write and watch. It draws you in when you feel you are where you belong.
Where Boyd wants to see Lost Tempest in 5 years:
Would like to release two full length albums and be writing the third. Would love to also have supported some big bands and have those big names support us throughout oz and the world (I really wanna quit work for music).
